What we can do together.

Well its finally been announced our new Student Ministries name is SWAP it stands for Student's With A Purpose. If you would like to see the logo check out pictures on my Facebook page!

Its a miracle how far the room has come in such little time! We actually met in the room for Easter! I can't wait until we see the finished product! I just have to brag on the youth team for a little bit. We have put together a worship band and an amazing Drama team that both did really well last week!

Scott (our pastor) liked the drama enough to ask them to perform it for both adult services this Sunday!

Without the adults we have serving none of this would be happening. None of us are perfect and we all have a lot going on in our lives. But we know we are called by God to minister to youth and its what keeps us going when things get tough! I am so proud of everyone who has been leading in youth. I pray for many more to join our team so that we can reach more people and be the best that we can be!

It takes a team that loves God each other and students to fulfill the purpose of student ministry. I'm so thankful to be a part of a purpose driven church! I can't wait to see who God sends our way in the near future as we see our student ministry growing and doing more amazing things for the Kingdom.

We sure are better together!

New Youth Room

I get excited when I see people grabbing ahold of their purpose and understanding the purposes of the church. I have been witnessing so many people giving of their time, energy and resources to see our youth room built. This Sunday (Easter Sunday) we will be meeting in our new room for the first time! It won't be completely done but it will be to a point where we can meet in it and that makes me excited.

Friday we are doing a flashlight egg hunt for grades 4th-12th and Saturday we have two egg hunts planned in our community finally finishing with one Sunday morning! None of this could be done without people who understand their ministry and mission in this world.

We often have to "SWAP" some of the things we would usually be doing. To do something that will make an eternal difference in someones life. It could be making coffee at home instead of buying it at a coffee shop and using the extra change to give to ministry helping people in our community and world. It could mean cutting out some TV, not going to a movie or giving up one of your 3 sports so that you can participate in mentoring someone, helping in a youth event, or serving on a Sunday morning.

What could you swap for God?

Romans 12:1-2
And so dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Back to Virginia

Have I mentioned that I'm an introvert? Some give me flack about it, but its usually because people don't understand what an introvert is. People assume that if I'm an introvert I shouldn't be in the ministry. It doesn't mean that I can't be outgoing or love people. It means that people drain me. I get my energy from being alone and extroverts get their energy from being around people. I have just come home from a wonderful week with my family. It was SO good seeing everyone especially my little sister who is currently living in California. It took me 12 years to finally go on this vacation to Florida again with my family and I'm glad I did. But it sure did wear me out!

I'm happy with the way God wired me. I just need to be intentional on getting my down time or I will crash and have a difficult time getting back up! I'm thankful to surround myself with all types of people and each wired differently but each also letting God work through us to reach students. I have an amazing team of adults that care about our community and the young people in it. God is growing our team and I love seeing things unfold before my eyes. God is absolutely working and its so exciting!
